Marakele National Park is located in the Waterberg Mountains in the Limpopo province and is considered one of the most scenic national parks in South Africa. The name “Marakele” means “place of sanctuary” in the local language and perfectly reflects the park’s role as a refuge for many animal species. The combination of rugged mountains, deep valleys and vast bushveld creates a unique setting for safaris.

What makes the park especially fascinating is the contrast between classic savanna landscapes and mountainous terrain, setting it apart from many other safari destinations. In addition to the Big Five, Marakele is also known for hosting one of the largest colonies of Cape vultures in the world, nesting high up on the cliffs. Thanks to its remote location and relatively low visitor numbers, the park offers a very exclusive and authentic nature experience.
